Making Extra Money on the Web

Published by wearmanyhats at 9:36 am under Business/personal finance Edit This

You can make money on the web, it you just know where to look!Under the category of “personal finance,” I want to bring up the notion that there are incredible opportunities on the internet for people to bring in a little extra money, plus make a home based business that can be used to help with write offs, thereby saving your personal wealth.  Every evening, after the kids slip off to bed, I spend time looking over the Work At Home Blogs found under the “business’ section of the Today network.  As far as I can tell, these dedicated bloggers are the best first stop to finding online work opportunities.

With the price of fuel slowly headed back in a northern pattern, unemployment surging, and second incomes in the family often a necessity, look no further than the internet for after hours work.  Here you can write articles to pick up a little extra, or visit blogs and make comments.  There are film writers needed, and translators, tutors, and reviewers.  The clients are as diverse as an international textbook company and an online dating service.  Even Yahoo needs survey takers, and all of these leads are found on the bloggers of the Work At Home Group on the Today network.

I can’t stress with you enough how much time these guys save people like me who try to find this information on our own.  I spent so many months looking at making $2 on a survey, or “pennies” on these foolish Pay to Click sites that just put junk cookies on our computer.  Instead, these bloggers led me to Bright Hub, where I’m putting in writing time to help small businesses and personal finance issues.  Because of them, I have found places to sell other work that I have done, and none of it has been with questionable companies.

Now here’s the really important thing that I have come away with during all of my after hours exploring:  I am almost an antique in the computer market.  While others around me know how to use Snapbook or Quickbooks, I am just behind the times.  Working after hours on BH has taught me so much that I need to remain competitive in the workplace.  Time that I have spent on Odesk learning Snapbook techniques has been super useful.  And I’ve even decided to learn Power point, something I had not done yet.

There are millions a month to be made on these sites, plenty to go around for everyone. If I had one confession, one gripe, it would be that the amount of money a person makes per hour is not that great.  I think that by the time I have written my article proposal, then the article, then transferred it to the site, complete with all of the necessary tag lines, et, I would be lucky if I made $5/hour.  No amount of promises about how someday I wll make a residual income is helping me with that gripe.

However, the people at BH have taught me so much about software, that I am sort of looking at this like an internship.  And why not make a little chicken feed when the kids are in bed and I have to be home anyway?  I set my own hours, work in my pajamas if I want.

So check out those Today Work at Home bloggers if you are looking for more income.  And don’t forget to say “thanks” if you find something you like.  Those folks work hard and their only reward is to know it is helping others.
